Some weeks you realise, round about Friday, that you've said barely a few dozen words out loud. You've been in touch with people, technically: messages, emails, notifications. But you haven't actually spoken to anyone.
Feeling lonely isn't a personal failing, and it has little to do with how many people are around you. It happens in couples, in families, in an open-plan office of thirty. What's missing is someone properly listening.
A phone call won't fix that. It does something smaller, and still worth having: it breaks the silence and gets you used to talking to someone again. Plenty of people feel better after ten minutes of conversation than after two hours of messages, and there's nothing mysterious about it.

What people ask us before they ring
Who actually answers the phone?
Real women do. Everyone who picks up is over 18, works under a stage name and works with our telephony partner rather than for Covmod. The profiles you browse are a different matter: the photos, names and bios are computer-generated, so they give each hostess a face and a character without showing the woman on the line. It's a phone conversation and nothing more; nobody swaps numbers or arranges to see anyone.
How much does a call cost?
Calls cost a per-minute service charge plus your phone company's access charge. Our service charge is printed next to the number wherever it appears, and it's the same whichever hostess you speak to. The access charge is set by your own network, not by us, so check your tariff for what it adds to 09 numbers. Nothing extra is added once you're connected.
Will it show on my phone bill?
The number will, the conversation won't. An itemised bill lists the 09 number you rang, with the date, time, length and cost of the call, like any other call. It doesn't show what was said, who you spoke to or any hostess's name. Bear in mind that 09 numbers are widely recognised as premium-rate, and the number also stays in your phone's call history until you delete it.
Can I call from my mobile?
Yes, as long as your network lets 09 numbers through. Several UK mobile networks bar premium-rate numbers by default, or apply adult content controls that have to be lifted first, usually after an age check with them. If your call doesn't connect from a mobile, your network may bar 09 numbers by default: a word with customer services sorts it out. The access charge is often higher on a mobile than on a landline.
Do I need to sign up?
No. There's no account to create, no form to fill in and no subscription: you pick a hostess, ring the number and key in her code. There's no sign-up fee either, because there's nothing to sign up to. You pay only for the minutes you spend on the phone, at the rate shown next to the number, plus your access charge.
Is Covmod for over-18s only?
Yes, strictly. Covmod is an adult service for over-18s only: the site asks you to confirm your age on arrival, and nothing here is aimed at anyone younger. If a child in your household can use your phone, most UK networks offer parental controls that bar 09 numbers altogether, and your provider can switch them on for you.

Our hostesses currently take calls in French only. We are setting up an English line with a UK partner, and the button on every profile will switch on the day it opens.
What's real and what's illustration
The profile photos and bios are computer-generated: they give each hostess a face and a back story. The women who will answer are real, over 18, and work under stage names, as everyone in the trade does.
Nobody will publish your conversations, and nothing you say will be attached to a public profile. The fine print is in our privacy policy.
What we're not
Not a dating service: nobody swaps numbers and nobody turns up at the pub. Over-18s only. If it's company in person you're after, our blog is a better place to start than a phone line.
